Skinny, la sedia (the chair).

L'arte della fabbricazione delle sedie ci appartiene, indiscutibilmente.
Sapere artigiano tramandato di padre in figlio, generazione dopo generazione.
Ciò che non mi è sembrato ovvio è abbinare il ridotto spessore delle doghe alla resistenza che una sedia deve avere.....


Torsioni, compressioni e trazioni....una sedia deve essere progettata per resistere a sollecitazioni considerevoli.
Allo stesso tempo, volevo minimizzare la visibilità della struttura portante.
Ottenere il miglior connubio possibile tra leggerezza e resistenza.
La realizzazione del prototipo definitivo si è rivelato un parto difficile, ma il risultato finale ha superato le aspettative.
A quel punto vi era la necessità di sdrammatizzare il protagonismo dello schienale.
La scelta è ricaduta sul cuoietto: elegante e piacevole al tatto.


Chi ha avuto l'occasione di provarla, è rimasto stupito dalla rigidità della struttura.

The art of chair making undoubtedly belongs to us. Craftsmanships passed on from father to son, generation after generation.
Combining the thin cask stave with the resistance required for a chair wasn't so obvious to me. 
Torsion, compression, traction. A chair must be designed to withstand many sources of mechanical stress. 
At the same time, I wanted to minimize the visibility of the structure.
To get the best possible combination of lightweight and strength.
The making of the final prototype was quite a bit of a challenge, but in the end the result surpassed any expectations.
Then I needed to counterbalance the prominence of the back.
I chose cowhide: elegant and pleasant to the touch. 

Whoever tried the chair was amazed by its structural rigidity.
